#MadeIn365Days Photo Diary - Week Five
September 30th
International Babywearing week was this week and to kick things off, we got another sling in the mail. It came at the perfect time. Jasper was unusually fussy, teething I think. But today he actually rocked back and forth and got excited when I asked him if he wanted to go in the sling. I can’t believe he’s going to be six months old in a few days. We’ve been doing this for six months now and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

We started giving Jasper whole foods this week instead of baby purees. He loves it so much. I have so much fun watching him try new foods. He’s always watching us eat and wanting to try what we have, including drinks. I know he’s going to grow up a foodie, just like we are. Strawberries seem to be the thing that get him most excited but he’s also enjoyed the muffins I’ve made him and even spaghetti!

It’s barely October and we’re bundling up already. After a year of Georgia weather, though, I don’t find myself complaining. However, trying to figure out how to dress a baby who can’t tell you whether he’s hot or cold is really hard. We love Carhartt hats now though (until they fall down and cover our eyes).

I’ve been trying to prioritize adding reading back into my daily routine the last week. I joined a book club (Prose before Bros) and started my first Agatha Christie novel. I also decided this week to try my hand at starting a book club of my own. This time, with a particular focus on military life. It’s been a while since I’ve been this excite about something. But the current weather has been the perfect excuse for curling up with a book and a hot cup of tea.

I forgot to take a photo for Friday with my camera but I wanted to share this picture I took the following day with my phone as part of this challenge anyways. Part of my reason for starting the Made in Mom Jeans photo challenge was to get myself out of my comfort zone when it comes to taking photos. I’m so proud of this photo here. I found these Jimmy Choo sneakers at the thrift store on Friday (one of two pairs I purchased that day) and decided to keep them even though they aren’t exactly my style. I had so much fun rocking them. But more importantly, I’m so proud of myself for thinking outside of the box (or square) when it comes to Instagram these days.

When we found out we were having a boy, Justin was excited about the possibility of wearing matching sweaters with him. Saturday was their first time.

On October 5th it snowed. We woke up to a winter wonderland outside on Sunday morning. The snow (along with another cold for me) was the perfect excuse for a quick grocery run followed by an afternoon spent baking and making soup. I’ve been in a baking mood the last few weeks and I just love the feeling of being in the kitchen all afternoon and making things. It feels good and tastes pretty good too.
