My No-Makeup Skincare Routine
I have gotten a lot of compliments on my skin lately which you know is huge for me if you’ve been following along for a while. I had no skincare routine in my early 20s. Around the time I turned 25, I stopped taking birth control and my skin completely freaked out. All of a sudden I had this redness in my cheeks that wouldn’t go away, horrible and painful acne that would last forever and ever. I tried seeing numerous dermatologists and tried their suggestions but seriously, nothing worked. The only thing that even remotely worked was some blood pressure medication that the dermatologists prescribed just for my acne but after a few bad reactions to it, I decided to stop taking it.
When I got pregnant last year with Jasper, I knew it was time to switch out my skincare routine for pregnancy, using products that were safe for pregnancy but that would also work to help change my skin. In March, after seeing all of the bloggers I follow raving about TULA beauty products, I decided to give them a try. I document my month-long journey using TULA beauty products in the blog post TULA Beauty Review with Before and After Photos. I figured after giving birth that my skin would just get worse again, confident that the reason it was looking so good was because of the pregnancy hormones. But I’m happy to say that I have continued using my TULA beauty products through a 4,000-mile move, a different climate, the joys of motherhood, stress of military life, and so much more and it’s still working for me.
All of that being said, I really wanted to share my skincare routine steps and how to do a skincare routine with you guys. I’m definitely not an expert on creating a skincare routine and I don’t even know if this is the right skincare routine order but I wanted to walk you guys through the steps to my skincare routine and talk a little bit about my favorite skincare routine and products with you guys. My skin has been looking so good lately that I haven’t worn makeup since May which I guess makes this a no-makeup skincare routine as well! Seriously, I never thought I would be able to trade a no skin care routine for no makeup but I’m so glad I’ve been able to truly gain confidence in my skin with this routine.
Is a skincare routine necessary?
I absolutely believe that a skincare routine is necessary. I have seen so much improvement in the look and feel of my skin ever since implementing a skincare routine. Now, I’m a realist so I know that sometimes it’s not possible to wash your face and do a full skincare routine every morning and night. Sometimes I go days without doing the full thing or incorporating a mask in my skincare routine. But when I’m consistent with my skincare routine using TULA products (and, hello, drinking enough water) my skin is definitely happier which I believe speaks to the importance of a skincare routine. The easiest way to incorporate your skincare routine into your day is to do your skincare routine before or after you shower. Sometimes I will break up my skincare routine and do half before my shower and finish the skincare routine afterward depending on whether I am doing my skincare routine for day or night.
