My Oil Fighting Skin Care Routine
Y'all, there is oily skin and then there is OILY skin. I fall in the latter category. When I say oily, I don't mean just a few oil blotting sheets per day. No, I'm talking makeup slipping off of the face oily. I remember in college having ridiculous dry skin, especially in the winter but now that I'm older (maybe it's New York or the fact that I'm 25... yikes) it seems as though my skin has switch to the oily side of things. With all of the events we have coming up in the next year I'm sure you can imagine my sheer horror when I was sitting in the TJ Maxx parking lot after work one day last week and found out that I could literally wipe my makeup off of my face. Cue the panic mode.
Luckily for me, I was close to an Ulta so I decided to stop on by to seek advice. I bumped into a girl at the Clinique section and we instantly hit it off. I have used Clinique throughout my life but had never really had someone knowledgeable tell me about the products. I walked away with a few samples and my skin felt amazing. Fast forward a few weeks and I've been using all of these products consistently and the results have been amazing! I just knew I HAD to share them with my blog fam. So let's jump right into the products I've been using for oily skin!
Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm
I saw the Take the Day Off balm blow up on social media what seemed to be over night and new that I had to try it. I am SO lazy when it comes to taking off my makeup, especially after a long day, so I absolutely dread this part of my skin care routine... until I tried this product. Gone are the days when you have to scrub and scrub at your makeup with makeup wipes. the Take the Day Off balm removes even the most difficult to get off makeup (cough, waterproof mascara, cough) with ease and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth.
Clinique Oil Fighting Skincare System
This three step system from Clinique has been an absolute game changer when it comes to my skin care routine. The samples the Clinique counter girl at Ulta gave me are the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, the Clarifying Lotion 4, and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I had previously used the moisturizer before but using the entire system really has helped control my skin's oil production. I'm not kidding when I say that I saw results almost immediately. The facial soap leaves my skin feeling clean without stopping it of all moisture and the clarifying lotion has drastically reduced my redness and breakouts. I already knew I loved the moisturizer but I can't tell you all enough how great of a product it is. The Dramatically Different Moisturizing gel gives my skin the moisture it needs without making it feel greasy.
Yes to Tomatoes Acne Fighting Paper Mask
Like any girl, I love a good face mask but my skin, however, doesn't seem to care for them. I recently found this mask at Target, however, and it has rapidly become my go-to for whenever I'm feeling a mask or have an annoying breakout last minute. I always have two or three of these stocked up in my bathroom at all times and will usually use one a few days before an event if I know I have one coming up. Paper masks are so easy to add into your skin care routine making them the perfect option for my fellow lazy girls.
Benefit Porefessional Primer and Matte Rescue
Now we've come to the portion of this blog post where I'm going to share with you the holy grail of all makeup products for oily skin. The Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue. This product, y'all. I just can't even deal. It is THE ONLY primer I have ever been able to find that actually keeps me matte all damn day. Hallelujah! I also love that you can get these handy sample sizes to test out. Another product that I just can't get over the quality of is the Porefessional Primer. Using these two primers together keeps my face matte and smooth and what more can a girl ask for? My new skin care routine has me so confident that I will even just pop these babies on in the morning along with some mascara and call it a day!
I could go on and on about these products but I'll cap it right here. Since this was focused more on skin care rather than makeup, there's a few products I left out. Definitely let me know if you would like to see a similar post (or maybe even a YouTube video) about the makeup products I swear by for oily skin.
