Random Sh*t I Love is a collection of monthly favorites that will be posted the last Thursday of each month! I love sharing my monthly favorites with you guys which can include anything from items I’ve purchased, stuff we’re binge-watching on Netflix, or major life events happening.
1. Pokemon Sword and Shield
I have been waiting for Pokemon Sword and Shield for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite to drop since it was first announced so I hope you guys aren’t surprised that it tops the Random Sh*t I Love favorites list this month. I have been playing it nonstop since it dropped at 8 pm my time on November 14th, perks of living 4 hours behind the east coast. I love that it’s set in the UK and it has a seriously great soundtrack. The gym challenge is also extremely unique and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I’m even thinking about getting a setup going to where I can play/stream and share that with anyone who’s interested, that’s how much I’ve been loving it. I’m already ready for more Pokemon games to drop so hopefully they’re working on a few other games too!
2. Thieves Dish Soap from Young Living
One of my goals for 2020 is to switch our family over to more non-toxic products. I knew we would be out of dish soap soon so I went ahead and grabbed the Thieves Dish Soap as part of my Essential Rewards order for Young Living this month. We mostly use dish soap for Jasper’s bottles so it’s really important to me to use products that are safe and healthy for him. The Thieves Dish Soap has made his bottles so sparkling clean and if you’ve ever had to clean bottles then you know how tough of a job that is. I feel like it cuts right through the grime, I know it’s safe, and it smells good too. Plus it has all the germ-fighting benefits of the Thieves essential oil so what more could you ask for?
3. Thrifted Everlane High-Rise Skinny Jeans
I was lucky enough to find these High Waist Everyone Skinny Jeans at my local Value Village during the last 50% off sale and they have been one of my favorites finds to date. This is actually the second pair of Everlane pants I’ve picked up there recently. Everlane is a brand I’ve been really interested in trying out because they’re a sustainable fashion company and their styles are just effortless and classic but the hefty price tag doesn’t always fit my budget. Being able to find brands I love or want to try on a budget is one of the reasons I love thrifting so much! I’ve linked the exact jeans on the Everlane website but if you’re looking for a good deal on them or to buy secondhand, check out places like eBay, thredUP, and Poshmark!
Here’s a few second-hand options!
4. Thrift With Me Friday’s on IGTV
In case you missed it, I started a new series on my IGTV (the Youtube like feature of Instagram) where I share my weekly thrift shopping trips and hauls! You guys have been loving it so far and I’m having so much fun discovering new ways to edit and put together interesting videos for Instagram. Sharing my thrift hauls is one of the best parts of thrifting for me because you guys get just as excited about some of my finds as I do! There are three videos up already so if you want to check them out just head to my Instagram!
5. Hearth and Hand Comforter from Target
I have been unhappy with how our bedroom feels lately. To me, it just doesn’t have that cozy and put together vibe I’m really looking for in our bedroom. I’ve been wanting to add a comforter to our bed since we got married and I recently fell in love with the linen options from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. I had this one in my cart for so long and then one day it was more than $20 off the original price! I knew I had to scoop it up. It came last Friday and I immediately added it to our bed. This comforter has definitely added more coziness to our bed and I’m excited to keep refreshing the bedroom! The detail on this comforter is amazing. I love how soft it is right out of the packaging and the “sour cream” color is the perfect shade of off white. The embroidered detail here and there on the comforter makes it feel more expensive than it really was. It’s also not too hot or cold which is perfect for us.
6. Rosehip Oil
Last week on Instagram, I asked for recommendations to help my skin adjust to the dry Alaska winter. I got a lot of great recommendations, including Rosehip Oil. While I plan on stocking up on the Tula Beauty Sleep Moisturizer when it comes back in stock, I knew I needed something to hold me over until I could get my hands on it. I’ve been really sensitive about adding new products into my skincare routine because of how great my skin has been lately but for $6 at Walmart, I figured this Rosehip Oil was worth a try. It has definitely had a positive impact on my skin in the way of moisture and glow but I’m not sure if it’s been causing more frequent breakouts or not. I’ve been on a soda kick lately so once I get that back under control I’ll update you guys on the Rosehip Oil situation on Instagram!
7. Wooden Letters and Numbers Puzzles from Amazon
Handling our first Christmas with a child has been interesting. I struggle with simultaneously wanting to spoil Jasper while also having toys that are actually beneficial to his learning and aesthetically pleasing. When I found these puzzles on Amazon I knew they would be the perfect option to pass along to family for gift ideas. They showed up at our door from my mom last week and they’re even more adorable in person! They’re a little advanced for Jasper at this age and the age he’ll be around Christmas but I love that I can show these to him for Christmas and then pull them out in a few more months when we need to rotate his toys.
8. The Gloss by Shane Dawson
Okay, so the story behind this gloss is mildly hilarious. It cost $18 which is something I wouldn’t normally spend on a lipgloss, especially since I don’t wear makeup anymore. But I wanted to support Shane Dawson and his makeup collaboration with Jeferee Star so I knew I needed to find something to purchase. Honestly, I thought for a long time about just buying the pig mirror but when this lipgloss finally arrived last Friday, I was thrilled! The packaging is so extra that it makes it feel over the top and special even though it’s just a clear lipgloss. The texture of the gloss is buttery soft, unlike any I’ve tried before, so you can tell it’s high quality. I love the natural sheen it gives, it’s not sticky and… it smells like Root Beer but in the best possible way. I don’t even like Root Beer but the scent makes me happy. I waited almost a month for it to be delivered after spending half of a day trying to purchase it during the launch but it was 100% worth the hassle.
9. Reese’s Dipped Pretzels
I know it’s the holiday season and the last thing you need right now is a recommendation for something sweet and chocolatey but I promise that this one is worth it. Along with a soda kick, I’ve been kind of addicted to chocolate covered pretzels lately. I have no idea why but I’ve been buying them everywhere. Anyways, I wanted a snack after a grocery trip so I grabbed these chocolate covered pretzels but with a twist: They’re Reese’s flavored! Reese’s Cups are my favorite candy if you didn’t know so I don’t know why it took me until now to try these but don’t come near me with a bag unless you plan on it being utterly destroyed by me.
10. Vintage Woolrich Sweater
This should be no surprise because it’s been all over my Instagram lately. I found this vintage Woolrich sweater at a consignment shop in Fairbanks called The Vintage Junky when they shared it on their Instagram. I couldn’t make it in right away but it was miraculously there when I made it in the following Monday. It’s so warm and I love the colors! I’ll definitely be wearing it all winter!
